I have a question for you fellow mothers...where do you get your baby toys? How do you know what they will like? I'm looking for activities/toys Maddie will like between 3 months- 1 year. Any suggestions? Thanks!
haha, maggie's most treasured possessions from 6 to 12 months were a giant diaper box and a laminated piece of paper that was some kind of contest info from a package of tortillas. the "real" toys were not quite as enthralling. at a year she became very interested in baby dolls, though.
I came over here from your sister's blog and saw your question. I've purchased very few toys for Taeya (most everything I've bought was from the thrift store). Some things she's liked are: blocks, teething rings, books, stuffed animals. Kids don't need tons of toys with all the bells and whistles. Sometimes, I just give my daughter a pot and spoon to play with and she loves it.
An exersaucer (~4 mo.-10mo)is great because it entertains your little one and keeps them in one spot while you make dinner or eat dinner! A few soft chewy things always did good like at Babies R Us in the baby toy section. Really the babies don't really play till around 6 months and even that is just looking at something and putting it in their mouth. Everything goes in the mouth... :) What a fun stage- have a great time!
After 4 kids and a bucket load of toys that we "tried out" I suggest keeping it simple. As in 1 or 2 rings to chew on and an activity mat. She could be easily entertained watching you or the world go by out the window. I also liked throwing on a Baby Einstein during dinner making time. All the kids liked that.
cael liked all of the fisher price toys. they're the most colorful and make the most noise. the rainforest jumperoo saved my life when he was that age. i highly recommend anything fisher price. and you can get their toys cheap at big lots and thrift stores or garage sales. the good thing about fisher price is their toys 30 years old are just as entertaining as their current stuff. cael plays with the toys i played with at my parents house and loves them just as much as i did. happy shopping :)
CRAIG'S LIST and GARAGE SALES. I got a few batches of about 10 toys for $10 on Craig's List. and GARAGE SALES where I got a lot of toys for $.50 or $1. Then, if she doesn't like it... who cares? (A lot of toys I've found Connor didn't like at all, but grew into liking). I actually get all his clothes the same way (garage sales for about $.50 each). Good luck =) Your girl is Super cute!
things she can suck & chew on-teething rings, soft things she can hold.I had a mirror in the crib when Sarah & Becca were babies & they LOVED it! It was a mirror with straps that was made for the crib-don't know if they still exist! Also music-baby einstein is really good. I had praise music video & tape (yes I'm dating myself). But I would put praise music on in the car, or when hanging around. It was very calming.
