First Day of School 2017-2018

I love this class! Yup, we are homeschooling all three this year. And to be perfectly honest, homeschooling both scares and excites me. This morning I was up early asking the Lord to be my strength. I feel so inadequate to provide all that a school would for my kids, and yet I know this is what God has for me to do this year. So, in faith, I trust He will supply all I need to nurture the kids souls and educate their minds. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 is my verse:  But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Geneva is in pre-school! She's 3 years old and loves learning! She asked for more math pages today after completing two :) Geneva wants to be a mermaid when she grows up!!
Savannah is in first grade and loves pretending! She has a great imagination. She says she wants to be "a mom just like my mom" when she grows up. She even wants to marry a guy "just like daddy"!
Maddie is in third grade. She also wants to be a mom when she grows up. She has such a tender heart. Today she did math, reading, spelling, grammar, cursive penmanship, history, Bible, Science, and journal writing!
 Team Johnson Academy's mascot :)

Our classroom rocks. Thanks Jesse for setting up all the Ikea furniture!

Last Days with Grandpa and Grandma

One of our highlights was seeing where Grandma was baptized. We had a great time visiting her church and meeting her friends.
That afternoon we hiked to Fish Creek Falls.

The girls love hopping from rock to rock!
Then we went on one of Grandma's favorite hikes- Soda Creek. We even saw two moose from the car!

Jesse took his mom on a date that night. Love mom-son time!
Grandpa Robert came and read to the girls for almost an hour!
The next day Jesse and I hiked Devil's Causeway. He's been telling me about this hike for the last 11 years. We had a great date together! We hiked to the highest point you see above Jesse's head.

 Almost half way up!

Here we are above the snow and tree level- it was such a view!
Jesse crossed the narrow causeway, but I was chicken :)
We ate lunch sitting on the edge- what a view!
I just love it here!

While we were hiking, Grandma and Grandpa took the kids on a hike and played at a lake.
Thanks so much for taking care of the kids so Jesse and I could go play!
The next morning we woke the girls up early, put them in the car in their PJ's, got our favorite croissants, and drove back to Denver to catch our flight home.
We are so thankful for our time in Colorado. In Grandma's words, "It was magical!"

Giddy-Up

Grandma took the girls to get hats!

We also went to the Hot Springs. All the pools are heated naturally.
We had a blast doing the ninja warrior course!

That night we went to the rodeo!

The girls got to run after a ram and try to pull off a ribbon. The kid who won got a belt buckle :)
The next morning the girls played cowboys and saw a hot air balloon.
We had a great time at the Farmer's Market. The smell of roasting green chillies is the BEST.

And that night Grandma and Grandpa Robert took the girls to dinner and read stories while we went out to dinner on the Yampa River!

"Hanging" Out in Steamboat

Our first morning we got up and went up the mountain!
Geneva was a little nervous about riding the gondola :)
The view at the top was breathtaking!

Later that afternoon Jesse, Robert, and I went zip lining for a couple hours. It was a blast!
Grandma took the girls for ice cream :)
 And playing!
